What is AMR file?
Adaptive Multi-Rate Codec (AMR) is a standard audio compression format for both speech and music. AMR files use a .AMR file extension and the file format was standardized in 1994 by the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI). It was designed to allow for multi-rate encoding, which allows it to be more space-efficient than formats such as MP3, which only work on a single rate. This AMR file extension is an audio file type that uses Adaptive Multi-Rate (AMR) technology to reduce bandwidth usage when transmitting voice data over networks. This type of audio data is mostly used in internet phone calls. The Extension is also used in recorded voice messages sent through email or text messages on cellular phones.
