What is MSO file?
Microsoft Office 2010 introduced a new feature called "MSO" or Microsoft Open XML. MSO is a file extension for Microsoft Office documents, which can be opened using MS Office 2010 onwards. Microsoft Office 2010 introduced a new file extension called MSO for its suite of office products. Microsoft Open XML is one of the formats that are used by these files. This format is supported by newer versions of MS Office, starting from MS Office 2010 onwards. The primary usage of these files is to create documents in the form of Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc., which are not compatible with older versions of the software suite in spite of being in .docx or .xlsx formats.
