What is ALS file?
Since the early 2000’s, Ableton Live has been using .ALS files to store its sets. As of 2018, there are more than 1 million .ALS files in existence. The ALS file extension is used for storing song parts in Ableton Live. It stores the songs as a set, with their individual parts including notes, tempo information, and other information which helps the user play the set at their desired tempo. Using this file type for your songs makes it easier to work with your songs even if you are not using Ableton Live. An open ALS file can be opened in any music software that supports exporting to MIDI format
