What is TRC file?
The .TRC file format is a proprietary file extension used by Oracle to hold its server logs. It is generally used to record all data from the Oracle database. The .TRC file is a binary format and cannot be opened by a text editor. It has a unique number within each .TRC file that indicates the position of the specific parameter in the log. Although there are many different software available that can open or view this type of files, it is important to remember that this type of file cannot be edited directly with any computer program, but must be opened with an external program such as an application called TRACEONLY which will allow you to not only read from the TRACEONLY but also set it up for writing to individual files or groups of files in a specified folder.
