What is SMIL file?
SMIL stands for Synchronized Multimedia Integration Language. It is an XML-based language that is used to create multimedia presentations in a web browser or with a standalone media player. SMIL files are commonly used in multimedia presentations, education, and training. SMIL files are open source and can be read by most open source media players or web browsers. They can also be opened with an HTML5 compatible browser which includes the Android, iOS, Chrome OS, Windows Phone, Opera Mini/10/11/12/14/15, Blackberry 10 browser and more. The .smil file extension is mainly used by the Adobe Flash Player to play SMIL presentations or animations through an HTML5 compatible browser or on mobile devices with JavaScript support.
