What is PRT file?
A .PRT file is a special 3D CAD file that has been created with the help of a 3D design tool. The PRT file extension stands for "Part-to-Rigid-Tool" and is used by many CAD software like SolidWorks, Pro/Engineer, Creo, NX. The .PRT files are used to create parts or components in CAD software. It starts out as an STL or DXF file which can be opened by any CAD software. From this opened .PRT file, the designer will be able to import it into their tool for further editing and designing. This can be done if the designer wants to make changes to existing geometry or create new geometry based on the part that already exists in the design tool.
