What is HQX file?
The HQX file extension is a type of binary encoding that can be opened by the BinHex 4.0 application. It is used by Hex-Rays to hide sensitive data, such as passwords and encryption keys, inside a document and allow them to read and edit it later without the need for encryption software. This file extension was used in early days of computer programming before encryption software became popular for protection purposes. Nowadays, these files are often created by hackers using various tools, such as EncFS or TrueCrypt, to store encrypted data in documents that can be opened with a password.
