What is FIG file?
The FIG file type is an extension for a file format. The extension is used commonly in a number of different graphics programs, such as XFig and Xfig Draw. The FIG file extension was created by the National Institute for Standards and Technology (NIST) as a way to have a universal standard for distributing computer code that can be read by any program without installation or conversion. This standard is preferred because it allows creators to share their programs with anyone, regardless of their hardware or software.
