What is CDF file?
The CDF file is a binary document format with a special purpose. It was designed to represent the structuring of a document in a tree-like structure with one or more files that can be opened in order to view or edit the content. The term "computable document file" is also used to describe the CDF file extension. CDF stands for Computable Document File and it’s an XML based binary document format that is used in sophisticated word processing software such as Microsoft Word and Adobe InDesign. The data structure of the CDF file is based on an XML schema for which you can find documentation on Microsoft's MSDN website, so you'll need at least some understanding of how XML works to read or edit one.
