The .XLSB file is an Excel 2007, 2007 x64, 2010 binary spreadsheet file that is saved in the XML Binary Spreadsheet Format. The XLSB file extension stands for Excel 2007, 2007 x64, 2010 binary spreadsheet file. The extension .XLSB was introduced in Excel 2007. It can be opened in both Windows and Mac versions of the software. The XLSB file format is similar to the XLSX format which is used by Excel 2013 and newer versions. The .xlsb extension does not contain any formatting settings while the .xlsx extension contains embedded formatting settings within it. Therefore, an XLSX file cannot be opened back into an XLSB format without manually converting it into a normal XLSX one again.
