What is RIF file?
RIF files are used in Painter. They are also the default file extension for Raster Image Files found in all other software. RIF files are the default extension for raster images in any software packages; however, they can be opened using other extensions, like .PNG or .PSD. RIF files tell Painter what type of image to create or open when you make a new file or choose an existing one.
