What is GED file?
GED file extension is a file type that has been used in the past to store genealogy data. It was originally developed by the Genealogical Data Service in the early 1970s. The GED File Extension is an older file format used for storing genealogy information. The GEDCOM format which was developed about the same time as the GED File Extension, is now more popular and universally adopted across genealogy software programs.
