What is APP file?
An app file (.APP) is a file extension which indicates a Mac OS X application file. Unlike other file extensions, the .APP extension does not have a standard meaning and can be used on any type of files. When an app appears on the Dock, you can double-click it to launch the program or work with it. The app icon will also appear as your desktop wallpaper if you have this feature enabled in System Preferences.
