What is ADF file?
The ADF file extension is a coverage data file created by ArcView. It is also used by software such as ArcMap and ArcInfo. The ADF file extension contains survey data that have been collected over a particular area, collected from the ground or from satellite imagery. The data can be viewed as a map overlay or as a series of layers that can be further manipulated in geographic information systems (GIS) software such as ArcInfo and ArcMap. In general, it has been found to be useful for those who do not have the resources to collect their own satellite imagery, those who want to use specific types of remote sensing data for mapping purposes, and those who need high-resolution coverage over relatively large areas.
